How much do calves cost?
Currently our calves range from $1,000-1,200. This depends on the mama it is born from as well as the gender. We are also still in the beginning phases of our ranch and hoping to expand to purebred miniature highlands. Our prices are subject to change at any time.
How do I get on a waiting list?
Send us a message on our Contact Us page and let us know you would like to be added to our waitlist with your contact information and how many calves you are interested in. Our waitlist does not guarantee you a calf. Our waitlist is only for those that are potentially interested, but not ready to commit to purchasing. Serious inquiries that are ready to purchase will be sent a contract to review, sign and sent back with a deposit to ensure your spot. When those calves are sold, we will then add you to the waitlist to be next in line should one of those sales fall through. Once all our calves are sold, we will keep you on the waitlist to be next in line for the following calving season.
We won't be taking waitlist requests and deposits for the 2022 calving season until the fall of 2021 when pregnancies are confirmed.

Can we visit before deciding to purchase?
Absolutely! Please call or text us or send us a message on our Contact Us page to schedule a time to visit our ranch and meet our herd.
Do you transport calves after the sale?
Transportation is typically agreed upon between the buyer and seller based on location and availability. We have third party shipper contacts if needed. Any calves being transported outside of Iowa requires additional paperwork and vet inspection before travel and may require additional payment provided by the buyer.
More on Miniature Scottish Highlands

Although most Highlands would be considered a "Mid-Miniature" size breed (Over 43" at 3 years of age) Miniature Highland cattle (under 42" at 3 years of age) are one of the most popular of the miniature breeds of cattle. Highlands have a double coat and this allows them to handle extreme weather conditions that most other cattle would not be able to handle. Another trait of the Highland that sets it apart from other breeds is they are great foragers. They resemble a goat in that they will eat brush and weeds. This allows for more highlands/acre then general cattle.
Highlands are also known for their calving ease, being good mothers and for being docile. Because of their docility, they crave interaction. Highlands don't always do well alone and like to be with other animals or other mini cattle. Highlands and humans have been interacting for so long over the span of history, that they will naturally be a good choice for a backyard grazer or lawn mower. Not looking for a natural lawn mower? Highlands are slow to mature at the age of 3, this slow aging produces a flavorful succulent meat. Highland beef is known to bring premium prices/lb. It will give you all of the desirable traits of the Highland in a smaller package, making them easier to handle and raise for a small family.
Even though Highlands are tough animals for dealing with rough weather, they still need proper land and homes. Please keep in mind if you are interested in purchasing one of our mini highlands, they need plenty of shade and water and a pasture with trees and/or shelter to get out of the heat when it gets warm.
